twin--turbo Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Back when we ran our own squid(guard) we used to block http(s) requests to IP's ( sites not using FQDNs) Never seemed to cause a problem and solved a number of them. Since moving to another product we have not done this, until today when I bothered to work out how to do it (not as easy as squidGuard) So will see what happens on Monday. Anyone else doing this? Rob
Duke5A Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Yup, we block all web browsing by IP. A lot of the filtering we do is by domain name and browsing using IP would bypass that specific list.
