Black screen on logon for long time, 'My computer' not showing

Hi Guys, need some urgent help,

 

All of a sudden when logging on users are seeing a black screen with a mouse curser for a significant time, also when going to 'My Computer' to just hangs.

 

Everything was running fine up until an hour ago. Any ideas?

yup Windows 7 64bit Enterprise

We've had this on some of our RDS servers.. A reboot fixes it.. Until it happens again lol.

will try server reboots if all else fails

Rebooting your servers wont fix this, unless its an AD issue? I was refering to our remote desktop servers that users literaly log on to.

its been up and running for a few weeks perfectly but today has started happening. Cant see anything on any server that is alarming, nothing obvious in eventviewers

Does it do this for an admin?

 

Anything in client event logs?

 

Are you using SP1?

 

How many machines? Are they laptops? Ive seen this with a damaged HDD (turns our user had dropped laptop and broken HDD).

We had this on one of the win7 with some user! Deleted the users profile, When they loged back in was working again?

Thanks guys, fixed it in the end, a few servers needed windows activating before they could logon, im guessing the services on those machnes didn't start properly as a result. Activated, rebooted and everyone could logon quickly again with no black screen or lockups.

Actually spoke too soon, its started doing it again.

 

Nothing of much concern in eventviewer, a few kerberos security issues but these i believe are just duplicate IP addresses
