Hi,

We are having some very strange problems, when using the Macromedia MX 2004 Range.

The school moved over to a Windows 7 based system in the summer, it's been trouble since.

  • Fireworks would crash when starting, we think we have fixed that by giving students, permission to change windows scheme, only because it need a Basic 7 Scheme.
  • Dreamweaver was sorted by turning off the ACL.

But Flash is the biggest problem. It just crashes all the time, no reason at all. Has anybody got to the bottom of why this happens, and if so how did you fix it?

Thanks

We never did solve it. We eventually decided to get ICT and Technology to make a joint purchase from their budgets and get CS5.5 [with the upgrade option to CS6 when it came out] The Art Department are also using CS6 now.

I had issues at one of the schools I support (although it was on both XP and 7) and the best solution so far was to update Flash from the version that was installed to a later patch release (which took some hunting via the web and some URL guessing to get the download from the old macromedia site)

The update was easy to package up and push out via CC4's deployment but should be easy via scripting/SCCM/SCE. What version of Flash do you currently have installed? If you let me know I'll check what version the update takes it to and see if it may help you.
