Windows 8 and Smoothwall

Anyone getting any issues with Windows 8 and Smoothwall?

 

We have a test teacher with a Win 8 laptop and every morning she is getting the "Proxy Server is not responding Error". Funnily enough this is not when she initially logs in every morning but randomly an hour later and it is fixed by logging out and in again.

 

Based on this I reckon its an Auth issue, NTLM wasn't stripped from Win 8 in the end was it...?

A number of users on these very forums have detailed problems with proxy servers and Win 8. The best workaround is to use a proxy.pac file which seems more reliable.

 

According to this article, there's been no changes to NTLM in Windows 8 or Server 2012.

I have been using Server 2012 with transparent filtering using NTLM all on Smoothwall and had no issues. (well ones caused by server 2012).

Thanks guys, we don't use proxy.pac however I will try this and see what happens!
