If any of you have the wonderful Dell Optiplexe (620 etc) series with removable CDRW and FDD the check this out. Eject the FDD drive from the chassis and at the back on the LHS you should see a little USB connectoe. Yup, its an exernal USB FDD. Nice.

You tried CDROM booting them? I have some SX280s wit hthe pullout drives (they go in my D610 laptop too :D) but i cant CD Boot for love nor money on the SX280 chassis. Ironically enough tho, using the exact same drive i can boot from CD on my D610 laptop.

We have around 30 SX280's and have had no problems booting from cd. Check the BIOS settings to make sure CD drive is enabled. F12 at start up and if it's enabled it will be listed.

to get back on topic, (lol sorry for hijacking the thread)...

The SX280 uses some massive edge connector, its nice to see Dell following some sort of "standard" connector (even if you couldnt physically fit anything else in there) at least it opens up 3rd parties to develop modulebay items and could provide some interesting "mods" wedged in there too lol (like card readers etc)
