Windows 7 Libraries

I have disabled neworking, favourites etc... in the navigation pane on windows explorer, however when students use word and then use save as, all the libraries show up on the navigation pane. Any ideas anyone?

If you set the library files in the User Profile to "Hidden" (which is very easy to do in GPP) then they wont show up.

What I do is use GPP to copy an updated version of the four Library files (which has the Public portions removed) from a Server Share to the User Profile on the Local Machine.

Then on the Music, Pictures and Video ones I set the File Attributes to Hidden (also in GPP, it's a setting during the File Copy).

 

The end result is that only the Documents Library appears. No reg hacks or anything. Just a simple Hidden attribute which can be easily reversed if needed.

You can also use the office GPO's to control what people see on the save/open dialogues.

I've used the GPP method as well, best way to remove the Public locations.

 

With the Documents Library is it intelligent enough to know to redirect to any user's redirected folder if you customise it or does it try to redirect to the folder of the user you were editing the library file with?

Ours seems to just use whatever the Folder Redirection says.
