titch Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) As the title suggests. Positives and negatives. Feel free to slag it off. Obviously its not THE best looking website and still has some blank pages but the brief was its needs to be easily updateable by anyone in school. Would love your opinions! http://www.orchardjunior.com Edited November 22, 2012 by titch
aerospacemango Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Ummmm....Do we get a link to it? Or should we just guess random words until we happen across it? LOL!!!
titch Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Its a minimalist approach................... OrchardJunior sorry guys
AlexB Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Looks to have been designed for screen widths greater than 1024 1
titch Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Looks to have been designed for screen widths greater than 1024 I did it at 1024 width. Is it looking dodgy on your screen? What browser? Cheers

glennda Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Chrome and IE9, I have to scroll for all the text on the main page (default zoom) As mentioned with this - In a smaller window (my laptop is 768 High). For the bulk of the information on the first page I would remove whitespace between twitter feed and also at the bottom. I personally would also reduce the image at the top of the screen to something slightly smaller. 1
aerospacemango Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 To my eye, the light green is a little too eye-straining to be comfortable. With my res at 16x12, everything is perfectly readable and no scaling problems. The slightly darker green of the shortcuts doesn't really make them stand out enough for my liking! Hope you're not too offended by what i've written, and please remember it's ONLY my opinion!! 1
AngryTechnician Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 The top image is 1200px wide, and the CSS specifically sets the page width to 1200 too. Your screen resolution must be higher than you think it is!
titch Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Not Offended at all. Appreciate the input.

Your screen resolution must be higher than you think it is! Correct. I have messed something up with that. Change of plan. Made the page scalable now so should adjust by itself. What dimensions for a header do you think anyone?
padilla Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Please use some CMS and theme and it will be ok
r0bbed90 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Not too sure if it's intentional but on the Shorcuts menu the trolly image overlaps the text for 'Affiliate Shopping' - Personally I think it would look better if they were seperate with a bit of space between the text and trolley image.
mikeglover Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 On Chrome there is a green space on the left about 100px which seems to push everything over so it doesn't look central. As regards width I recommend 960px it is a common standard which fits well. Apart from that looks clear
edwase Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I like it! Trying something very similar at the moment so useful as a jumping off point.
scorcher89 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I don't like the colors however you can easily find all important information which is the biggest plus imo!
