Cant browse to Mountain Lion Macs

Recommended Posts

Hi

I can't browse to our Mountain Lion macs from my pc. I can to the Snow Leopard ones. Any suggestions please? All 3 are doing the same so it must be something to do with Mountain Lion. I've tried installing a different Samba on one of them ( was it called SMBUP or something....) but had no luck. It's not permissions I don't think....at least I have set them up the same as the Snow Leopard ones. I am at a loss to know what to try.

Cheers for your advice.

I had this the other day under sys preferences sharin when you can set the shares up under advanced (i think) only AFP is selected by default you need to tell the macs to share via SMB so windows can see the shares

Hi everyone

I just wanted to follow this up...........

I found out for those 3 macs I can browse to their hard drives from my windows 7 via their IP address but not through their name. So perhaps it is something to do with DNS and the machines have no registered themselves in the DNS server ( I have set the preferences in the Macs to point at our DNS server). It's interesting it's just Mountain Lion macs with the problem.
