SYNACK Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 The Spreadsheet Page Blog: Office 2013 RIBBON TABS Just go to the Customize Ribbon section of the Excel Options dialog box. Select a tab name and click Rename. Type your new name, using any mix of upper and lower case character. But… If the name is the same as the original tab name, it will revert to uppercase. The trick: Just add a space character to the end of the name. Here's an example. The HOME tab has been renamed Home. It works too and looks so much more civilized than the shout fest that it is by default. 3

I am still looking for a similar way for Office. According to MSFT there is no registry key for office though. I don't like the hacky and incomplete "rename your tabs" way. It still leaves the FILE and all the status bar text upper case converted. There must be some way of hacking the exe files to disable uppercase conversion. 1
SYNACK Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Maybe several hundred thousand STRONGLY WORDED LETTERS OF COMPLAINT IN ALL CAPS to tell them to get their excrement strait. Its insane, sorry, IT'S INSANE THAT MS HAS DECIDED EVERYONE IS SO STUPID THAT CAPS ARE REQUIRED FOR EVERYTHING. JUST BECAUSE YOUR (MICROSOFT) MANAGEMENT IS THAT STUPID DOES NOT MEAN THE REST OF THE WORLD IS.
sonofsanta Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 And so we will be reduced to a neolithic level of interaction with our devices, jabbing rudely at the screens and shouting. Shades of 2001: A Space Odyssey, perhaps.
