jlr58 Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I'm looking to buy a refurbished pc - a program I need doesn't run under Vista so I can't get a new one. I found one, it's got 10 gig hd & 128 mb ram. Does that sound OK? I use it for the internet & run a couple of programs, ACT & Signlab.
Geoff Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 It'll run Linux or Windows 2000 ok. But it's not really got enough ram for XP. If you want XP, you'll need twice the ram and perhaps a bigger HDD IMHO.
_Bat_ Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I personally would go for 512mb of RAM as opposed to 128 or 256. I find 256mb starts to struggle very quickly with XP, especially if it is properly updated. You might want to give us the prices for these refurbished computers you find - we'll tell you whether people are ripping you off!

If you have Vista, it suggests you have a decent spec PC, so why not run a virtual PC on it, with the O/S of your choice?
