Hyper-v3 Replica

Anybody using this feature yet?

I started setting up a test environment for this last week and just finishing off this morning, I wondered if anybody was using this or planning to use it in production?

 

Also when googling I found this news article on replica

I would have thought you wouldn't need it in a cluster because of using shared storage?

Sorry I didn't explain that very well! Replica looks to be designed at having reasonably high availability without using a cluster or shared storage. I think im right in saying that to have a hyper-v cluster you need shared storage for your VM's, so although you could replicate your VM elsewhere off the cluster it wouldn't be beneficial within the cluster.

Yeh very interested in this as we run local storage on our Hyper-V machines.

Ah I see. Well I am looking for a good way to backup a cluster. If my interpretation is correct you could replicate the VMs off of the cluster (in a different location) and replicate them back in a worst case scenario.

You could yes, meaning you always have a backup of your server that is up to date, another option would be DPM.
