WCBS PASS - has anyone tried to interface to it or do they supply an API

Looking to interface a web based application to WCBS PASS (pupil and teacher data, timetable etc)- was wondering if anyone had any experience of this

I've done a lot of interfacing with it. There's no read based api, and we had to commission them to build some procedures when we needed to write back.

Yep, basically by default you get read-only access to most of the data via SQL views, which are the exact same views you see in Report Builder. We have a few sections on our Intranet that access it for things like form/set lists and quick access to contact details.

 

A little while ago I also figured out how to check if teachers had completed their register, and they now get a dirty great reminder on their Intranet homepage if they are late doing it.

we use their own web portal for teachers.

I have (as AngryTechnician has) created my own functions on SQL to monitor registration/attendance completion.

 

Their latest update rehashes the way timetables are stored, so it looks like most of the work is out the window and I'll have to redo it (comes with the territory)

Angry Technician - thank you very much - I am looking to create an interface to WCBS (once overnight to update info from WCBS) - basic info is; year groups, classes, houses, pupil information, pupil photographs, pupil medical information, next of kin details, teachers and staff, timetable, attendance / absence. I obviously have detail of the fields used for each area. Won't mention that I want to go back into WCBS at this stage in terms of attendance and assessment! would you be willing to have a look at the more detailed doc? I just want to understand how complex it would be and how much time it would take. Fully understand if I get the one figured salute!!
