Apple TV keeping settings live

I'm currently setting a classroom up with an Apple TV and would like some best practice advice on keeping things set up and tidy. The classroom currently has an XP workstation that connects straight to the SmartBoard integrated sweet up (Smarts own built in projector) with the board being used as the only monitor as well. Currently to run the Apple TV it's a case of unplugging the VGA and plugging the Apple TV in. That results in the set up page being displayed on the SmartBoard and for obvious reasons I don't want the wireless password visible during set up. Is there an obvious was round this - by keeping the Apple TV live and using a KVM splitter perhaps?

I use something like this, it's not perfect but it works and it can be messy - SVGA Monitor Switch Switchbox 2 Way - 1 x 15pin VGA to 2 x 15 pin VGA - DW-HD15AB - kenable for HDMI Optical TOS Network Ethernet RJ45 Scart Audio Phono Jack USB Firewire 800 ADSL Cable Leads and it's cheap they sell cheap short vga cables there too (I'm guessing you use a vga to hdmi connector on the atv?) Sooner we upgrade to hdmi projectors the better tho.
