BJG Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 PCs with Windows XPSP3 / IE8 tend to randomly lose their homepage/proxy settings occasionally , so I've just been trying to create a shortcut or logon script for staff that zaps the registry and gets them going. I've had a go with several that are floating around the Internet but so far I haven't got any of them to work...anyone nailed this...?
apeo Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 We use to have a reg hack to set the proxy, which i think is pretty much: How to configure client proxy server settings by using a registry file The other thing you might want to bash in is to export [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Connections] and hack that in too. In particular the Automatically detect settings in IE could potentially cause problems so disable that and the setting is save in the above key (I think in the 5th hex set of DefaultConnectionSettings). 1
