Projector Optical Cleaning

Hi All

 

I have found this forum very useful for finding out how to clean our sanyo projector. So far i have cleaned about 5 projectors, some results have been a noticable defference and some have not so much. I have also sent one projetor away for repairs and it had a burnt lense. During my cleans i clean all the prisims, mirrors and lcd screens, and remove all the dust, has anyone gone any further and dismantled the whole optical engine and the even the lens? All the ones i have clean have been out of warrenty and i have a few spare ones to test on.

Hmm. Does anyone have any advice on cleaning an NEC? :-)

Hiyah ... Ive done the same job on a couple of oldish Sanyo and Epson projectors here. I took the covers off .... removed the electronic board and gave the device a good vaccuum. Then heart in hand removed the cover that was on top of the mirrors and gave them a clean using a dirt free brush ... Ive seen somewhere that the lens assembly shouldnt be touched so other than a good clean I left well alone ... Put everything back and tested. There was a marked difference in the clarity and brightness of the picture ... So I'm going to have a go at a NEC next ..

I've got an NEC which is broke. Might take that apart to practise on.

Have done an NEC before and it was one of the easiest I have done, dont know.model off hand though. Just looking at a Toshiba ST-20 at moment. They are quite easy as well. Filterless so bags of dust everywhere.
