SBS 2000 and Server 2008

Hi everyone,

 

We have an old SBS2000 server running which I need to replace. I am setting up a Server 2008 box and have joined it to the existing domain.

 

I am now trying to make the 2008 box a domain controller. I have run dcpromo but the process is taking ages. It is copying across the schema data but every five minutes or so, the process finishes the bit it was doing and asks for the admin password again. I type it in and it goes through copying something else. This keeps repeating and I have been sat here for an hour today typing in the password when requested and most of yesterday.

 

Is this right?

Yes, we've updated the schema. It's taking ages! I don't mind waiting if it is going to do it but at this stage I am doubtful.

I'd check event logs for errors on both at this point, maybe run repadmin /showrepl on the 2008 box to see if its throwing any replication errors up
