There's an intersection I drive through sometimes that has a forward green arrow, a red light, and a 'no turns' sign all on one pole. I honestly have no idea what it's telling me to do.

Americans have very few roundabouts but complex intersections with strange traffic light rules... Roundabouts FTW. Although that being said, I've found it is easier to get out on a roundabout with an odd number of exits than one with an even number.

depends if the other muppets on the road also know how to use them. At one yesterday in lane 2 (of 2) going straight on (dual carriageway at both exits) and had to slam on as some tool in a tt decided to straight line it (fine if the roads empty but when there is a car to the side of you not clever)

In South Africa they call traffic lights Robots. At crossroads without lights there's an unwritten "token-ring" type system, where one car goes from each direction in term. This is obeyed religiously, except by foreigners in hire cars
