Netwacky87 Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 Apple - A letter from Tim Cook on Maps Apple saying sorry! ! (well sort of)
ZeroHour Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 This is actually a reason I like Tim Cook, Apple messed up here, the worst thing he could have done was take a hard stance like the signal strength issue. Every company can have a booboo, Apple was just one of the worst at admitting it, good on you Cook.
rich_tech Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 It does placate a little reading that, just wish there was a google maps app available now, it worked bloody well and I am now left with some grey pixellated sludge of a field when locating my house (I live about .5 of a mile from the local town centre here in an urban area), why they even chose to take this decision with a product that was so obviously not ready I do now know, considering that things like "Find iPhone" rely on decent mapping and "Find Friends"
m25man Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 I've been an iPhone and iPad user since they were 1st released, now after just a week on IOS6 I'm off to a Samsung! I only wish I had a backup of my ipad3 I'd roll it back tomorrow! Sorry but this hollow apology doesn't cut it for me.

m25man Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Can you downgrade using the old full firmware file? I guess so I found the file here iClarified - iPad - Where To Download iPad Firmware Files From Im going to dig out my old laptop, which I used when I set it up in case there is something there to help, but the last time it upgraded I used the OTA method and the backup option is turned off. it just sounds to me like there will be no return to Google and even if an "Official" app gets released will it have streetview capability? What about YouTube the only official app seems to be for the iPhone. Rather than enhancing the iPad IOS6 just seems to have destroyed its functionality. Despite Google Maps and YouTube the net seems to be awash with other complaints such as seriously reduced battery life and 3G data usage that is sending users bills through the roof. I think there is a lot more to come from this than just the Maps fiasco.
