Setting domain laptops to use local Documents folder

We have just migrated to CC4, our staff laptops were all vanilla before but now i want to build them as CC4 machines.

 

What i would like to configure, however, is that while using their laptops it stores the documents locally (all the time), in addition to this while in school they will have a mapped N: drive but no automated redirection to it.

This is how it worked before but i'm not sure of the best way to configure this now they are domain/cc4.

Why on earth would you want to do that?

 

Anyway It should behave like this my default, just dont change the redirection settings.

as redirectrion is a user setting you might need to use loopback policies on the pcs in question and override the settings but tbh as above.

 

Another option is create local users on the laptops that way only pc policies apply (just make them match their as username/password) and add a script to all user startup that maps the drives you want

a) because that's what they're used to

b) stops them filling up the server with junk

c) allows them to have itunes/etc on there without causing b)

 

Problem is, i don't want this to affect their use of the normal workstations.

ok i'm investigating the gpo loopback

I'm editing the 'shared laptop stationtype' and i've set folder redirection to C:\users\%username%\My Documents

 

But it's still not working, i'm just going to test a simpler folder path to see whether it's the syntax or the gpo
