Windows cannot bind to my domain (Local error) ID 1006

Im starting to think this is also the same problem as this one: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/100920-netbook-gp-errors.html

 

I thought i'd test a software deployment on my virtual XP machine. It was a fresh install so added it to domain and waited for it to pick up the GP's.

 

RSOP errored saying "group policy infrastructure fauled due to the error listed below - a directory service error has occured". So i checked event log. Thats throwing up:

Description:

Windows cannot query for the list of Group Policy objects. A message that describes the reason for this was previously logged by the policy engine.

have you tried removing the old object from AD before re-adding the client to the domain?

 

what hapens if you run gpupdate /force

Have you tried the old trick of removing it from the domain (Join it to a fictional workgroup), then re-joining it to the domain?
