plexer Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 On warm sunny days like today my office/workshop is far too hot and it ain't even the server room. Going to have to get a portable air con unit. Anyone know of a cheap'ish one? Ben
robk Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 We have a pro-elec one from CPC in our office, seems ok, the old homebase one we brought 3 years before died with a electrical burning kind of smell... Not sure they are designed for long term use but never mind. 1
plexer Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 @robk how much was that as the price isn't shown on the cpc website. Ta. Ben
markcuk Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 just sat at my desk eating a 50p magnum ecuador!!
LosOjos Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I feel for ya, it's baking hot here too. If your problem is the same as ours (one side of the room is entirely made of windows, making my office effectively a greenhouse!) you could try what we are doing and put some of that reflective foil up on them to block out some of the sun. Should be a damn site cheaper than aircon... Well, I hope we're getting that anyway, I've been asking for 18 months and have been told for the third time I'll get it "tomorrow".
plexer Posted September 6, 2012 Author Posted September 6, 2012 I've got large windows on one side nd have a roller blind wihich I keep down to give me shading and the windows are filmed I believe. Ben

twin--turbo Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 No windows and A/C we are a chilled 20. But before the A/C wend in we maxed at 29.5 last summer and never dipped below 23.5 through the winter as our floor is heated by the heat transfer plant for our sports complex/pool. Rob

In the summer our office is min 29.5! Well not quite but I've seen it go to 40'. As for AC I'd recommend one with the external unit, the ones with the hose are next to useless.
