Driver updates WSUS / GPO

How would one go around deploying drivers such as sound and graphics to pcs after they have been imaged? Im assuming this can be done using WSUS and GPOs? We have 3 different years of stone pcs and this years nova teach pcs that they would like to push the various drivers to them. Can anyone advise on the best way to do this?

You can use WSUS but you need to find and import the windows update drivers from the Windows Catalogue into WSUS to deploy them, this is not done automaticly for client drivers.

How do you set it up so that it deploys the different drivers to the different pcs?

WSUS is just the local cache of Windows Update, when it runs an update it grabs a list of updates in the catagories that it needs and sorts through them to find anything it needs, this includes drivers. The host makes the decision not the server.

How are imaging your machines? I would not recommend WSUS for driver delivery in NY opinion.

 

We use mdt and inject drivers during the build process.

We use fog to image our machines and amazingly one or two clicks on wsus and it downloaded and installed the drivers @deano why not wsus?

Its just different ways of doing the same thing, with WSUS you are limited to the drivers avalible through Windows update and it does mean the machine has to go through an extra reboot instead of just applying them at image time but it still works fine. If it works for you I'd keep doing it.
