thekiddy Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I can't get my xp clients to retain printer connections after a user logs off. When they logon again the printers have disappeared from the 'add printers' view. I've tried lots of thing through deployment using Group Policy including the 'pushprinters.exe.' but printers don't seem to deploy to xp although it seems ok on win7. The printers are on the network and working fine. Any ideas appreciated thanks, Steve
ADMaster Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Hello Steve, Give group policy preferences a try. I set up the printers at the computer level and not the user level. I think winxp sp2 is required and their is a kb update to use gpp so make sure you have that installed. Also when you share the printer on the server, you need to set the print processor to winprint raw. Hope this works for you. 1
thekiddy Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 I now have this working after lots of effort but mainly because of your advice. I think the kb was the key but did the other bits as well. Won't get a proper test until after the hols but looking good. A thousand thank-you's !!
