Sam_Brown Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Trying to do it here at the moment and it keeps on crashing while trying to sequence it.
sister_annex Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 How are you trying to install? I have done it but it was some time ago and the old grey matter isn't quite working atm... I know for a fact using SIMSInst does not work you should just run the SIMS Application - make sure you have the drive mapped before you start and ensure you have all the .net frameworks installed on your sequencer machine before you start
david_1152 Posted October 26, 2018 Posted October 26, 2018 Just out of interest, did this happen? Has anyone deployed SIMS via app-V? Thanks!
sister_annex Posted October 29, 2018 Posted October 29, 2018 Ouch, necro thread alert We've been running it on v4.6 for years - we'll be moving to V5 soon. I did it by sequencing the simsapplication installer not SIMSInst, map the drive and ensure the correct .net apps are installed. 1
Ebstar Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I have it running on V5 now but have a couple of issues with the addins... namely Exams fail to load with an incorrect connect.ini, Options and Nova both fail looking for the sims.ini file on the local machine and not the AppV home! @sister_annex do you have any issues with your deployment?
sister_annex Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 @PurpleTentacle will be able to help @Ebstar he's done more work on it than me lol
PurpleTentacle Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I didn't do anything in particular, but I am wondering if Exams Org and Nova T are only working because I'm a local admin on the box. I don't point to a CONNECT.INI on the network, and IIRC I allow write back to the VFS. I will test the package with a non-admin account and update this.
PurpleTentacle Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Tried Nova T and Exams Org as a user that is definitely not a local admin, works fine (as best I can tell, I don't know what I'm doing with either).
