Rawns Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 So, pre-order is now available on Steam for CS:GO (With a stonking saving of £1.20 for pre-ordering!!!) Who will be getting this? Did anyone get demo access? I've heard sketchy feedback on the interwebz that it looks nice, but is nothing like previous CS incarnations.
DMcGuigan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Alredy pre-purchased, get to play the beta from Tuesday. Only ever played CS:S and wasn't very good at it at all.. only 4 hours clocked up though so I'm pinning it on that. From what I've heard from a few friends who did get in to the beta, it's pretty slick. Graphics are an improvement, but they said the game play is pretty much the same, just feels a little easier.
flyinghaggis Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Yeah, pre-ordered it a couple of days ago when I noticed one of my friends had bought it. Loved the original counterstrike so thought I'd give it a try especially when it was on sale for just over £10!
Steve21 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I've heard sketchy feedback on the interwebz that it looks nice, but is nothing like previous CS incarnations. Think this is my concern It's been left so long since the last "real" update. Not the silly achievement one. That I can't imagine it'll really compete with any of the modern games like MW etc etc, unless it's pretty much identical then seems no reason to change over Might have to have a play if they stick a public demo out sometime but can't see myself getting it without that. Steve
flyinghaggis Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 That I can't imagine it'll really compete with any of the modern games like MW etc etc, unless it's pretty much identical then seems no reason to change over Steve I hope they keep it close the the original to be honest. As far as I was concerned the multiplayer in CS is pretty much spot and and way better than Battlefield/MW so I don't think it'll have any trouble competing with them. Even if it's nothing more than a graphical upgrade I'd be happy with that. I could never really get into the MW/BF series as I always found it too slow paced and a lot of the multiplayer dynamics in them irked me to be honest. especially the whole levellling one whereby the players who've spent the most time playing the game get access to the best weapons whereas when you start out you get rubbish! The weapons were never very well balanced IMO. I've always found myself going back to CS or Halo whenever I'm in need of an FPS fix. I like the look of the new Molotov grenade:)
Steve21 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I like the look of the new Molotov grenade:) Get the feeling they've been playing L4D while developing? Steve
flyinghaggis Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Get the feeling they've been playing L4D while developing? Steve LOL, quite possibly!
flyinghaggis Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 Zerohour just pointed out to me that the beta is now available to download for anyone that's pre-ordered!
CAM Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Are there any substantial changes beyond a graphical remake then? The only new thing I have seen is the molotov.
flyinghaggis Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Are there any substantial changes beyond a graphical remake then? The only new thing I have seen is the molotov. There's a couple of new games modes,a few new/revamped weapons but in the main it's pretty similar to CS:Source. The graphics engine update is undoubtedly the main thing. Looks way better now but thankfully still manages to run at a decent frame rate. Really enjoying the beta so far so it's looking good for the release....
