How should I setup STP?

Hello everyone,

 

I know that there are 3 versions of STP - STP, RSTP and MSTP. We have a mixture of Netgear GSM7224, GS724TP, and GS748T.

 

My question is, how do we setup STP for our network? We have a flat network.

 

Should we enable RSTP for switches that have client machines connected (edge switches) to them and then use the ordinary STP version for our core switches?

RSTP across the board, then set one switch ( your core ) to have a lower bridge priority than the others at 32768, increments normaly of 4096 so you could just go to 28672 for the core switch.
