[blackberry] BES Server - Device Sync Rate

Not sure what is going on here - and I'm no BES expert.

 

I have a clients who's devices only seem to sync every couple of hours - is there a way to set this to be sooner? They are using BES express 5.0

 

Any advice much appreciated.

If it's a vanilla install then it should be instant push. we have not really touched ours in 6-7 months.

Ewyuck! BES - I still have nightmares.

 

Anyway, have you checked your firewalls, BES needs a constantly active connection to the central BES servers which then talk to the phone companies servers before hitting the devices. If this link is messing then you'll end up with issues like this.

 

Try something like this:

Test Your SRP Connection -CodeIdol

 

You'll find the bbsrptest.exe utility in the following directory within the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installation:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\UtilityTo run the tool, bring up a command prompt and cd to the directory. Run the utility by typing bbsrptest from the command prompt without any options. If your SRP connection test is successful, you'll receive output similar to the following:

 

NetworkAccessNode is srp.na.blackberry.net. Attempting to connect to srp.na.blackberry.net (206.51.26.33), port 3101 Sending test packet Waiting for response Receiving response Checking response Successful

Because you can configure more than one BES per server and each BES can be configured to point to a different SRP node on RIM's network, you'll get the previous output for each BES you've set up on your machine.

 

After that log in to the BES config website and after only a few terabytes of RAM usage you should be able to check the logs for both the server and the devices on the server side and see if there is anything in there.
