Ive been racking my brains in trying to get this working.

Ive created a mandatory profile, loaded to the domain, given it the .v2 extension, given the Registry Everyone full rights to the user.dat renamed to user.man. Thought it all seemed to work.

So I logged on with a user using mapped drives via GPO, all seemed good, went to login on again I got a different desktop and no drive letters, logged off then back on and got the correct desktop and drives. This keeps happening, so every other login I get no mapped drives and a different (standard win7 wallpaper) dekktop.

All I can find at the moment is that it seems to not like some reg keys unloading when logging off, but otherwise at the moment I am non the wiser and bugging me :(

set permissions in ntuser.man on this 3 keys

\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\group policy

\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\policies

\software\policies

to full for authenticated user.

Thanks all for the ideas, after a bit more looking into it a GPO setting on the workstations has seemed to resolve the problem, under Admin Templates\User Profiles.

What one was it? Might be useful for others having the same issue...

Good point...

Admin Templates > System > Group Policy - Turn off local group policy processing (disabled)

Admin Templates > System > User Profiles - Delete user profiles older than a specified number of days on a system restart (enabled)
