oxide54 Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 hi . just working on a little project and need to host it somewhere haven't really used github or sourceforge, opinions on? program is all c runs on linux GPL,
Chris_Cook Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 Github is a bit simpler and has a nicer interface (imho). Sourceforge has more features, for example different types of version control systems. Also, you don't seem to get a mailing list with github. You might find you have problems with proxies with some version control systems - git and svn took a bit of effort to set up. Otherwise, both offer a pretty reliable service, just make sure you keep your own backups.
Arcath Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 I use github loads and its great! @Chris_Cook github added a feature to git so it can be used over HTTPS which has made use behind a proxy much easier. Github offers an issue tracker which I find a lot better than any mailing list.
