New printer packaging!

Anyone bought a recent hp printer?

 

I mean really? The brown colour scheme for one looks like its a peripheral for a vic20 or Atari 800, but the NM likes it? I'm not so sure.

But that's not the problem. Rather than the large plastic bags for packing this came in a stitched hold all type thing! The power lead was even supplied in a wash bag! Surely that's not economical?

It would be better than plastic i maybe made from recyclable material and would be better to the environment if thrown away. Plastic takes a long time to break down.

Fabric does break down faster than plastic. Is it 'decent' - could it be appropriated for home use or is it that rubbish cheap fabric you get on the bottom of cheap mattress protectors?

Yes it's that stuff. But it has to be made though unlike bags which are just formed

We purchased a couple of the new HP printers and they're really flimsy in comparison to the LaserJet 4000's that they replaced and after a few weeks we had to call the engineers out to replace parts under warranty. Needless to say unless we absolutely have to, we'll be sticking to buying the older 4000 series printers that have been refubished - they might be slower but they're much more robust than their newer models.
