Hi All,

I have a user that has a local Printer not shared printer not a network printer, nothing but a regular Local printer that you attach it to your computer, anyways .. When he plugs in this Canon Printer Windows 7 start looking for a driver for it and install the driver but the thing is, it install the printing support driver and everything but the FAX driver, so WTH i dont care about the FAX driver, i just need to print, but it wont even let you do that cuz whenever you go to the printer in the device and printer place, there is no printing service, just scan, so i thought maybe i can add it, Add printer here is the thing, it shows use existing port which is a TCP/IP Port for another printer and create a new port which doesnt have neither USB port nor LPT1 port !!, and this printer doesnt even has an IP.. anyways I went through the process of adding it for a standard TCP/IP port and also there is nothing, any advise ?!!

Apart from the general bits, disable the fax part in device management. See if there is a vista version of the driver and install it in compatibility mode. That last but worked for me on an HP printer.
