How to auto logon in Windows 8

This little hack will enable you to boot W8 without having to enter your password when the machine starts. It should be particularly handy for tablet users where, TBH, it's a pain to do so each time. This does not disable any password prompts when using W8 such as when the screen saver is activated or it has woken up.

 

 

 

1. Start Windows 8 and logon
   
2. Press the Windows key + 'R'
   
3. Type 'netplwiz' into the run field and press enter
   
4. Untick 'Users must enter a username and password to use this computer'
   
5. Click 'OK'
   
6. Reboot to check

*Very handy for me as I used a complicated password that takes forever to type in on a tablet!
