Hi

I would like to take my CPD more into areas of educational management. Anyone recommend some good courses which cover both management and education?

Thanks

Not sure what you mean...

Do you mean management of IT within an educational context? If so, then look at FITS.

Do you mean general management within the education sector? If so, then look at the NVQ in Management (levels 3, 4 or maybe even 5) as it can be tailored to your organisation or even the Certificate of School Business Management.

Or you can even look at doing some sort of degree in the field of Educational Management, like the BA (Hons) Learning through Technology or even the Open degree from the OU where you can pick and choose your modules.

As well as the courses mentioned by Ken you could instead look at action research instead of courses, where you work on the study of education and management to help develop yourself, as well as providing useful research to others.

If you are looking at at being better at management then I would also suggest looking at a project management course. To be honest ... the ability to plan and the ability to be able to communicate are key to most of education and management. Whilst PRINCE2 might seem over the top, the principles are good and helpful.

As well as the National College (for CSBM and DSBM) you might want to look at materials from NAACE Naace: CPD and VITAL Vital | Transforming lessons, inspiring learning

Yes I would suggest project management (FITS to start off with but ideally, PRINCE2 as Grumbledook says) is going to be a key strength if you are going to move in to high end IT management.
