Adding additional displays to an Asus eeeBox

Wonder if I coudl pick a few brains

 

I've got an Asus eeeBox at work that I'm trying to use with several displayers - two monitors and a projector. The problem is that it only has a single HDMI output. I have tried a USB-DVI adapter, which works to a point - except you get a black screen if you try and display any video intensive stuff - e.g. DVDs or PowerPoints - even ones with text!

 

Has anyone got any ideas how I could get this lot to work? I'm trying to achieve an extended desktop over two displays - one being a 22" display, the other a 17" display and hte other item being a projector that supports a max of 1024x768 which needs to have one of the monitors outputs cloned to it. Obviosuly, I want to use the larger monitr at its maximum resolution. The eeeBox is running Windows 7.

 

Any help much appreciated- even if you guys know of a working USB-DVI adapter that will do video intensive stuff properly, then that would be great!

Which eeeBox do you have? Unless it has a USB 3.0, DisplayPort or VGA port I don't think you are going to be able to do what you want since USB 2.0 doesn't have enough bandwidth.

I've got one of these guys plugged into my Zotac Zbox (AMD E-350 version) - http://www.amazon.co.uk/HP-NL571AA-USB-Graphics-Adapter/dp/B001TPIRXC/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1340535345&sr=8-2

Main display from the box goes out onto a 22" monitor and then the USB graphics thingy powers a 17" display quite well.

 

Video playback on it is ok for things like keynotes but anything that runs at a faster pace (e.g. game trailers) drops frames.

 

One thing to note though is that the little Atom CPUs don’t have nearly as much processing power as a AMD E-350 which could explain why its working for me.
