Extending the Schema for DPM - Problem

Hi,

 

I wish to enable end user recover on DPM. To do this i need to extend the schema. I am following the guidance from MS: How to Enable End-User Recovery

 

With both methods i am getting this error:

 

 

My domain all looks healthy no DNS issues or anything. DCdiag shows as all fine.

 

Any thoughts please?

No there is sod all in the logs. The actual app that is doing this is a VBS script so its independent

IP settings are just fine.

Could it be that the container that DPM requires access to doesnot have the required permissions?

 

Try this workaround:

 

Configuring end user recovery involves extending the schema and granting the

DPM server permissions to the container. Based on the error message you are

receiving, it appears that the latter step may be failing.

 

1. Open the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in from Administrative

tools and select the Advanced Features is selected in the View menu.

2. Expand the domain, and then expand System.

3. Right-click MS-ShareMapConfiguration, and then click Properties.

4. On the Security tab, add the grant the DPM machine account full control

permissions.

Ex: If your machine is called MyDPMServer, you need to grant full control

permissions to MyDPMServer$

5. Now open the DPM UI and enable End user recovery.

The manual one is the one i have tried. I will try the permissions

@bossman - I have got back to looking at this but i dont have MS-ShareMapConfiguration under system. After some googling i have found this is only added after i have made extension. Becuase i cant do this it wont appear.

 

Any thoughts please?

hmm after running windows update i tried again and it worked. Weird, there is nothing at all in the event log.
