newpersn Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 Dont know if anyone use these We are planning to install windows 7 on to these and would like to ask if anyone has done it? I rang stone and asked if would they take a 2GB ram and they would. But there would be no peformace gain as its only a Atom CPU, Anyone with ideas? Thanks
Michael Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I agree that 2GB doesn't make it faster, but it does allow the netbook to multi-task better as with any other netbook running Windows 7.
Arthur Posted June 11, 2012 Posted June 11, 2012 I have a Stone Neo 101 running Windows 7 Home Premium (32-bit edition because the Atom N270 doesn't work with 64-bit Windows ). As Michael said, upgrading the RAM to 2GB is a must since it makes Windows more responsive. I also swapped the HDD with an SSD (64GB Crucial M4) since the Western Digital HDD it came with got quite hot.
newpersn Posted June 11, 2012 Author Posted June 11, 2012 Should of said that these don't get used much. Got a set of 32 laptops that get used every day. Also im reimaging those to win 7 slowly They got a wireless issue that I don't like. Sometimes the wireless won't come on. Restart later and it did. Just been told by nm that these have win 7 license.

Just thinking of doing the same SSD upgrade with our NC10's... any 5400rpm hard drive is a killer for boot times
