One of my schools is ditching Report Assist (hurrah) and the head wants to use Word instead and has made up a Word doc.

However, she'd like the name of the child to be entered at the top of the first sheet but also appear automatically in the footer section of subsequent sheets.

I can set up different 1st page/2nd page headers and footers but don't know if its possible to have some text automatically repeated elsewhere in document - I don't think field codes do this job but maybe they do.

Any suggestions please?

regards

Don't know the answer to this but you might want to mention which version of word you're using as it may be possible in later versions (or not)

The best way to do this would be to use Mailmerge. You need a "database" (Excel spreadsheet) containing all the names. You then use mailmerge variables in the header and footer to get the name included in the appropriate places... I have a guide to mailmerge somewhere which was set up by our registrar. PM me if you want a copy.

Version = Word 2003

@elsiegee40

Thanks but looking for something more like entering a name on the doc and having it auto repeated

Based on past experience, most teachers will take the template, setup 3 types of report for A B and C students and then customised one of these for each child.
