Are you using proxy server details in your lan settings? If so add the GLPI IP address to the bypass addresses even if you have selected bypass internal address you'll still need to add this address.

OK - we're getting a little bit closer now. I had forgotten to add it to the proxy exceptions. But now I get a "cannot find server" error. Is there something I have to do on the GPLI machine?

Could you upload a screen shot of it working locally and not working?

Wes

Attached are two images "working" and "notworking" - guess which one relates to which?

Do yuo have friendly error messages on?

Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Internet Options -> advanced -> Show friendly http error messages.

Untick that apply the changes then quit and restart i.e just to be sure.

Now try again and see if you get something more meaningful to us.

Has the machine got two network cards in it? I ask because the first picture shows the netowrk icon in the systray as not connected?

I've noticed that - I am certain it is connected because I can happily browse the internet.

Just checking the details, and apparently there are two network cards - although there is only one ethernet port.

Welcome to the weird world of my school.

Done, but no change in what the error message is. Honest.

When I was testing glpi and ocs I used one of the wamp setups but can't remember which at the moment.

I don't recall ever trying to access it from another machine allthough I may have done.

What wamp setup are you using?

EasyPHP aren't you sqdge?

Try wiping the system again setup a single card and disable the other.

Use the default installation of OCS and then install GLPI after this should be fine.

I've never used EasyPHP so I'm unsure as to its behaviour in this instance.

I'll do that tomorrow and let you know how I get on.

So, I have completely started again, and have managed to get both OCS and GLPI running and accessible from outside the local machine. However, the graphics are not what they should be.

There appears to be a large number of menus missing and, especially on OCS, a large amount of information missing.

I'm guessing screenshots would help - let me know.

Sounds like the usual confused webserver+stylesheet problem.

It's definitely a style sheet issue. Any idea what the solution is?

Tell the webserver what it's name is. In apache this is controlled by the 'ServerName' configuration directive.

Any idea how to do this in XAMPP?

Edit http.conf (might be called apache.conf).
Bizarrely, I had already done that, but it hadn't worked. However, as soon as you sent the message, it started working (clearly, you have too much control).

Now I have GLPI up and working really nicely. The next stage is getting it to co-operate with OCS NG. I went into Setup, where I was expecting something to do with OCS to be mentioned. However, there's nothing there.

Any ideas?

Sqdge - follow this link and the very first question explains how to get the OCS NG functionality to work in GLPI.

I've just been doing the same thing for my current company and it took me a while to find out how to get the two talking, but this doc explains what you need to know.
