WDS & Win7

Hi Guys,

 

Currently bought a batch of new PC's, we have server 2008 r2. I am looking at imaging the PC's using WDS. Heres what I have done so far:

 

Installed all software/updates on PC to how I want

 

Installed the WDS role on the server

 

I have tried a few times to upload the install.wim and boot.wim files to the server then tried to add drivers to the boot.wim file however not having much joy.

 

The PC I have is a HP 3300

where does it fail?

how are you trying to upload them to the server?

what boot.wim are you uploading to server?

(unless you want to install a fresh version of windows with 0 customisation there isnt much point uploading install.wim)

how are you adding the drivers to boot.wim dism/imagesx or through the menu?

have you sysprepped the pc you want to pull and created a capture image as you need a capture image to get an image (deploy to fire out) and it wont image a non sysprepped pc

I am using the boot.wim and install.wim from the windows 7 installtion disc.

 

I am trying to inject drivers using the menu option under the drivers tab within WDS.

 

Also the PC is sysprepped.

I found this video helpful when updating my .WIM images:
