10.7.4 clients managed by 10.6.8 server

Ok so just bit of a background...we've had 1:1 laptop for 6 years now with over 900+ students. We've been using portable home directory since the beginning and works well for us. I just created a new student image for next school year with 10.7.4...the Mobiity (PHD) preference is set under Groups in WGM on a 10.6.8 server OD master...now my new image with 10.7.4 doesn't prompt me to create a portable home directory nor any of the other preferences apply (e.g. Printing and Dock preferences). Here's the interesting thing though...it works if I set the preferences on a User level and not Groups. Any ideas? Is this a known bug?
