Adobe Dreamweaver CS5.5 Deployment

Has anyone messed around with Adobe Application Manager Enterprise Edition?

 

I was wondering if it was possible to build everything into 1 MSI file, and not an MSI file and bunch of folders. Im trying to push the installed of Dreamweaver CS 5.5 through Deep Freeze which works very well with .msi files, but when i build the installer the MSI is only 40megs, while the total folder size (including all the packages etc is close to 500).

 

Is there a way to included everything in 1 msi file?

We have CS 5.5 Enterprise. We were able to build an MSI with the software we downloaded from the Adobe server. The MSI includes all of the applications in the suite and includes the licence key. It took around an hour to deploy to our slower stations but the deployment was successful.

 

You should have no problems.

Hmm, i built the msi, and it created a folder "Dreamweaver" with an exception folder and build folder. In the build folder there is a .msi package, but i cant seem to get it to install unless all the other folders are included?

However I think all I did was build the MSI and deploy.

 

I am shortly upgrading to CS 6 so it will be good to have another look at this.

Gotcha, yea. I see the msi but its kinda small for Dreamweaver I would thinkg (40megs). When i run it in CMD with /quiet or /passive it does not do anything (passive flashed the install option but does not error out or continue the install). If i copy the entire folder that the program exports (Dreamweaver/Build and Dreamweaver/Exception) and run the .msi in CMD with /quiet it installs.

Our MSI is considerably larger than 40 MB [Our staff requested that the entire suite be deployed]

 

The MSI is sent to the workstations via Group Policy Management [Computer Configuration/Software Settings/Assigned Applications] It appears from your reply that you might be allocating your MSI via a script?

nope i can push MSI through deepfreeze, i successfully did skypesetup.msi and it worked great. Ive been trying locally, but it seems like the MSI needs those files to install properly, as in not everything is included in the msi but that it calls other folders for stuff ... weird.

I just tried to copy the .msi from the build folder to a flashkey and run it on the workstation

does not seem to be doing anything.

Well I found a solution, running a batch file connecting to the location of the whole folder created by Adobe. This copies the contents to a temp file, and then runs the .msi /quiet /forcerestart. Now at least ill be able to monitor when the remote workstations have completed the install.

 

I wonder what would happen if i just called the .msi to install off the server directly, i have a feeling it will get confused and try to install it on the server and not the workstation. hmm...
