Edugeek Joomla - What's different to standard Joomla?

What is the difference between the Edugeek Joomla and the standard Joomla other than the template?

 

We have a lot of EduGeek Joomla installs, which have stopped working or are having issues with certain parts due to us upgrading to PHP 5.3 (from 5.2). Is it possible to upgrade from the Joomla Edugeek to the standard Joomla 2.5?

Thanks Paul, so to upgrade it would be exactly the same as upgrading from a standard Joomla 1.5 to standard Joomla 2.5?
