Multiple or alternate "Default Gateway" assigned by DHCP? Possible?

We have DHCP to point all our workstations to our internal smootwall server (10.50.4.24). This is done with the 003 Router option in DHCP..

This is all good apart from several laptops that the council use, that needs to have a default gateway pointing to the councils broadband server (10.50.4.1)

The IP and settings on the laptops cannot be changed as they are setup not to use a proxy and has several settings so that thy can move around between council schools.

 

Using DHCP i can assign a static IP to these laptops, but does anyone know if I can set them a different default gateway?

Do it with a reservation, you can then override any scope options there.

Yes, if they are setup as static they can also be passed different settings for default gateway etc. They will need to be able to access this from your IP range though so it depends on how it is all setup.

Ok, ive set them up a reservation in DHCP using the MAC address. Ive tried reserving them an IP both within the Scope and also outside of the scope. When I try and edit the gateway (or any other settings) They all say:

"Only reserved client options can be configured here, To configure server or scope options, select the server or scope Options Node and choose configure options"

 

I though this was a reserved client IP ?

You may need to setup a DHCP exclusion range with the IP in it aswell.

The way I have it set up is the scope is for the whole address range, I then have blocks of addresses excluded from distribution, 1 block for servers and another for reservations. IIRC it has to be this way to work

Still no Joy...

 

Would this appear correct? I have several excluded ranges for printers, APs, cameras etc. I have used a spare IP from one of these and setup a reservation.

Ahh, its not in the reservation properties, right click on the reservation and select "reservation options" instead, there you can override the scope options.

I have all my settings setup in "Scope Options" and not in "Server Options" is this correct?

 

are ALL of your reservations editable?

Sorry my bad... You need to first tick the option you wish to edit on the left, then add the amendment!!
