Firefox on CC4?

Hi,

Before I start, I'd just like to say I'm in a lower year of secondary school (not going in to too much...) and am currently a member of the the Mozilla Foundation

Right now, I'm trying to help my IT technicians at school to setup Mozilla Firefox on our CC4 server, but we're struggling with building any sort of MSI to deploy Firefox with lockPref setup. I've already thought of powershell scripts, repackaging Firefox and deploying it standalone, then deploying the lockPref files separately, but it doesn't seem to be working in any sort of way. I was wondering if anybody has managed to install firefox on a CC4 server using lockPref, or another way to stop users changing settings (can't seem to find a way of using GPO) without going to every computer and installing there.

Thanks, Okay, so how about the locking preferences?

There are some ADM templates at the bottom of the link. They link into Active Directory Group Policy. It uses the same system that will lockdown the rest of Windows. The IT staff at your school will know about that. Using the MSI Firefox can be deployed via group policy or by SCCM.

The msi can also be used to create a CC4 package easily, and your technicians can find instructions on how to add the adm file to the RMCC.

Thanks all. I know exactly what youre talking about. I'll ask them to refer to this post tomorrow. I might talk to somebody who could maybe organize something for firefox to have group policies on the ESR by default. Silly me for not seeing that link. Anybody had any problems with frontmotion?

Never use it myself, use chrome instead.

You beat me to saying that, has anybody successfully set up an update server on their system, looks straightforward enough but from what I've seen, CC4 makes easy things a lot harder.

Hey guys,

 

Sorry to bring up an old thread, how did you get frontmotion to work. I cannot seem to get mine to work.

 

I am installing on a vanilla windows 7 machine. I download the .msi from frontmotion and added in the .adm to a local policy as described. The GPO settings are there and are customizable but they do not seem to take affect, have I missed a step?
