Installing Exe's?

Hi Guys,

 

I need to install a programme called Scratch which is a EXE, What's the best way to put this out instead of going round all the PC's one by one.

 

Running Windows 7 and Domains are 2008 R2

I've installed this today. From their website, you can download an msi which I then deployed through Group Policy.....worked like a charm :-)

If you look at the bottom of the page you'll see they provide an MSI as well.

Scratch can also be run from a network location too.

Did you install the MSi on a computer level or User, I tried both but it wont install. Its coming from a server that the Students have assess too

You want to install them at computer level, however restricting the share to students will stop it installing (computer will be installing the package before log on). For deployment share I tend just to set the share security to everyone (but read only).

If you want it even more secure just add domain computers and domain admins with view rights. That way staff and student accounts can't see inside the share.

Don't forget to stick a $ on the end of the share to make it hidden.
