MaximusR Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Morning All, Since the Spring release of SIMS and InTouch we have been having a big problem using InTouch in that every so often it will stop working and show a message about the Data Service being unavailable. Capita have been looking into this since March but don't seem to be getting anywhere... We are told that this is something to do with our SIMS users having integrated logons linked to their AD accounts. Is anyone else using InTouch with integrated logons and if so have you noticed any problems? Thanks, Max
wpjon Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 We use integrated logins and one of our receptionist is getting that message daily, all I can do to relsolve it is restart their SIMS for them to get InTouch working again. I haven't noticed it with any other users though, but the receptionist uses InTouch more than anyone else. I did think it was a problem with their SIMS install so I redistributed it to their pc today to see if it sorts the problem. Jon.
MaximusR Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Thanks Jon - That's really useful to know. Like us a restart of SIMS fixes it. We have also done a re-install of SIMS with no joy. Have you rasied the issue with Capita? They have told us that we are the only school that are reporting the issue. We didn't seem to have any problems before the Spring upgrade. Max
Graham_Cooper Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 (edited) @wpjon I'm not sure of your SIMS support arrangements, but we would welcome you getting in contact with our service desk so we might be able to assist. As this problem is of a highly technical nature it would help us to be able to discuss the system set-up and SIMS environment in another school that is having the same (or similar) symptoms to MaximusR. Please can I ask you to contact my colleague on the service desk - Simon Cronin: [email protected] We will certainly do our best to assist. Edited May 4, 2012 by Graham_Cooper
wpjon Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I have raised a case today and emailed Simon to let him know we are experiencing the issue. @MaximusR: I have noticed that for one of the users when they cannot access InTouch if I use the green forward and back buttons in SIMS after a few clicks SIMS will crash, have you noticed this? Jon.
MaximusR Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Thanks Jon - Whereabouts is your school? I will check the forward and back buttons too - we haven't noticed it at the moment though. Max
MaximusR Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 No - They are still working on it... Have you got the same problem to?
wpjon Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I've not heard anything since last Tuesday, hopefully it will be something which can be fixed soon, it is getting tedious for the admin staff who send out texts/emails everyday and they keep getting this issue. @MaximusR, we're a secondary in Derby. 1
Sivadam Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 (edited) No but we do not currently do not use Integrated LogIns. As part of BSF we are moving to the LA Managed Service - something I have been opposing for quite a while now. At that stage then we will be having Integrated Logins. Do you know the extent of this issue? Thanks Mike Edited May 14, 2012 by Sivadam
Sivadam Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Have either of you yet had any feedback about this issue?
MaximusR Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 We have been working with the help desk on this problem - We have been given two different versions of Pulsar to try and so far so good. Still not 100% sure how close we are to having it working across site. For the time being with have unlinked our SIMS accounts so that people can use InTouch without problems. 1
