Windows 7 64 Bit Slow to Browse network connections

Has any one else had similar probs?

 

Any Win 7 Pro 64 Bit pc or laptop when trying to browse shares on Win2003 Server Standard Sp2, very slow i.e. Not trying to open but just trying to access and list contents of a share.

 

Only documents are in folders, but you can watch the green search slider at top of window scroll slowly like its searching hundreds of files! (its not maybe 20 docs and spreadsheets)

 

Have also had very slow connection times when trying to set up ODBC connections to an SQL installation on the same server (again Win 7 64 bit) time is approx 20 mins to browse and connect!!!

 

No such problems on a 32 bit machine- instant connection and browsing and ODBC connection.

 

Any thoughts? have google and seems to be a recurring issue but no clear answers!!
