Mr.Ben Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Hi Edugeekers, I'm after some information on SCCM and it's ability to deploy software to machines specifically: Can it deploy in the background, whilst users are logged on? Can packages be scheduled for release? Can I force out packages, rather than advertising them? Thanks in advance, Ben
synaesthesia Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 If you mean you want them to actually install with no user interaction then yes, it'll do that. SCCM has a few settings, the most used will be advertised as available (shows in Software Center for hte user to install) or required, then you can set how visible you want it (hidden entirely, visible) and if a user must be logged on or logged off to do it. Plus some other useful stuff like wake the PC up to install. 1
Mr.Ben Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks Guys, How about managing legacy packages -what support (if any) is there?
ChrisH Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 If it has some kind of silent install switch you should be able to make a package out of it.
