If the water companies stopped 'faffing' around and built bigger and more numerous reservoirs, we wouldn't have these silly problems.

The idea or suggestion of pumping water from elsewhere is ridiculous!

More to the point, if the water companies/government had done something about a "national grid" for water after the problems in 1976, instead of leaving us with an antiquitated system of pipework serving very small areas, we wouldn't have a problem

Same problem different location, we had issues like that doubled by the fact that we use hydro for power too. This is how we end up with power crisises at times like a little African country. This little problem was somewhat addressed for Auckland by building a pipeline from river (the Waikato) down the middle of my street (trashing it and generating mini earthquakes everytime a truck goes past).

Water is something that is just going to get more problematic as weather patterns change and more people need clean water for everything.
