Server failure recover work from another server

Hi

 

One of our server failed today and been trying to recover the data from the tape from another server. As the server does not have the catalog files it cannot recover any files. Sorry if it a basic question but never done this before

P.s. Using NTbackup

[ALR]

You don't need the catalog files to restore the data. All the catalogs do is allow the back-up program to search the tape faster for the data you are looking to restore. If you open NT BackUp on another server, it will simply have to read all the tape to restore it.

 

Do you get any specific error messages?
